Most of my portraits come from my wanderings in various boroughs in New York City, since every time I go there, I rarely see the same person twice. When I photograph people, I usually look for characters with interesting clothing, bright colors, defined facial features, but most of all, finding them in some form of inner thought. Most people are so lost in thought that they don’t even notice me taking their picture. Because I work so close with a shallow depth of field, the viewer will always be a participant to feel that they are part of the action or conversation. I feel that these people are my friends because I feel so unexplainably drawn by their character somehow. Because the city is always changing, people nowadays look the same wearing similar clothing and similar hairstyles and I just pick out the ones who stand out from the lot.
